Tova's Fall Makeup Guide, Part 1: Skincare

This time of year we’re all busy pulling out our chunky sweaters and suede shoes, and wondering… does my makeup also need some seasonal tweaks?

With a cozy winter ahead comes a whole new color palette. And not to mention our beloved suntan fading 😔. No worries, some of our existing makeup will do just fine, while some of it… well… maybe not…

Let’s break it down step by step

Starting with skincare:

Over the summer, we might have been using a stronger, oil free face wash to cleanse our face nightly. Now, with the cold temperatures and humidity drops would be a great time to start thinking about something a bit more moisturizing and nourishing for your skin. Think- keeping our skin plump and healthy by cleansing from what we don’t want, but keep those natural “good oils” we do want.

Our new careline facial wash (that comes with a luxurious scrub brush which I absolutely love!) just squirt some out, twist the head to lock it, and let the brush do the work! Instead of walking out of the shower with skin as tight as your new pair of stockings, you walk out with clean face and with a head start on that incredibly moisturized skin we all need in the winter.

Now for moisturizer: if your moisturizer is working, keep it up! And if not, swap it out for something less abrasive, and skip the “oil free” and go for something like GA-DE Aqua Jolt Instant Hydration Gel Cream

Just some tips for you to get the most out of whichever moisturizer you’re going for:

  • Leave your face slightly damp after shower and make sure to apply your moisturizer within 3 minutes
  • Instead of dotting cold cream straight onto your face, warm a small amount between your palms for a few seconds. This liquefies the oils in the moisturizer so it glides on smoothly and melts into your skin instantly.
  • Apply in the morning before your makeup, but let it sit and do its thing on your face for at least 10 minutes before applying makeup over it.

For anyone over 35, this is for you. Does your eye area start looking crepey and those lines under your eyes start showing? Even more so in the winter! 😬 Starting your eye look with a great nourishing eye cream can be a GAME CHANGER. GA-DE Aqua Jolt Eye Cream would be a great casual eye cream. If you want to go all out and really slay those lines out of the park, this one is going to be your secret weapon. Just warm a small amount up between your fingers and gently tap the product on around your eye area. Trust me when I say- GAME CHANGER.

Now for those LIPS! Those chapped, tight, ouch, poor lips! I always had trouble getting my lip moisturizer to last more than a few hours. They always tightened and KILLED after just a bit! My personal secret that I discovered a few months ago- yes, Aquaphor at least twice a day is a MUST, but if you layer a tiny bit of hyaluronic acid underneath, that is the magic that transforms your relationship with Aquaphor from slave to master. No joke. Just wet your lips first (and stick with just Aquaphor if your lips are actually open/bleeding)
